MACKAY COMMUNICATION Solutions EXECUTED This international launch which was the launch of this international film. The launch was a live video crossing event which saw us launching simultaneously with London using “Uplink facilities”. It was a specialised largely technical facilitation production management of the international link-up with an event happening parallel or simultaneously in London. The staging of the event, stage design, lighting, P.A systems and all other technical elements (ob facilities, satellite up-link facilities, large video screening) etc to execute an event of this nature. We also produced the shortened version of this Film which was aired a good few times on SABC 1 and was very well received .
One Humanity tells the story of how the world came to focus on a single cause -- the end of the apartheid regime in South Africa - through two star-studded global television broadcasts produced by Tony Hollingsworth - in 1988 the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute at Wembley Stadium and in 1990, the International Tribute for a Free South Africa, Mandela's official international reception after 27 years in prison. This second event was broadcast to 100 countries and reached 500 million people, again from Wembley .
Directed by award-winning Mickey Madoda Dube, One Humanity is a celluloid tapestry made up of political interviews with key players in the global anti-apartheid movement, historic archive footage, interviews with artists who performed and archive footage of performances from the two concerts. Interweaved is the story of how the global broadcasts were put together by Tony Hollingsworth and others with insights of broadcaster and journalist Robin Denselow who was the main BBC presenter at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute. Plus wonderful performances or interviews from Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Whoopi Goldberg, Steven Van Zandt, Sting, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Chrissie Hynde, Jerry Dammers, Ali Campbell, Joan Armatrading, The Manhattan Brothers, Chubby Checker, Jackson Browne, Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Stetsasonic, Jonas Gwangwa, Gil Scott Heron, Aswad, Sly & Robbie .
